Georgia

Georgia and I headed out to Wellington Point, on Brisbane's East Side to capture some warm, sunny, playful shots on the pier. Towards the end of the shoot the afternoon sun became completely obscured by a wall of cloud. Using natures softbox, I completely changed the mood and found a nice bed of pigs-feet for Georgia to lay in.

THE SETUP: Shot on a tiny stretch of tidal coastline with mudflats and mangroves to my right and a quickly setting sun behind me. I used my Fuji X-T2, a 50 year old, fungus filled, 50mm manual focus Pentax lens, my trusty $50 Yongnuo flash and a pop-up 13inch square softbox for a little fill.

THE EDIT: A half hour in Capture One with basic curves adjustments, a few layers of skin smoothing and then a little dodging and burning.

THE HOW: The lighting was almost perfect behind this grove of trees. It was probably a 15 minute window of lovely soft ambient light. I used my little diffused flash to add some contrast across Georgia's face and shooting against green always makes skin tones pop. Georgia essentially did the rest, I just pressed the shutter!
