Kat and I took this as a little side shot way back when whilst shooting a clothing line in my old West End studio.

THE SETUP: Shot in my light controlled studio against a large sheet of black fabric with my now retired Canon 60D, my 24-105mm Canon lens and my trusty $80 no-brand no-modelling lamp strobe and the eBay rectangular softbox.

THE EDIT: An hour or so in Aperture with a heavy focus on curves adjustment, skin softening and burning and dodging.

THE HOW: This was a fairly easy shot to light because I knew exactly what I wanted and I was working within a completely controlled environment. Kat was a fantastically patient model. The only hard part was getting the cigarette length and smoke paired perfectly. The way you see it was the way it was shot; it remained untouched during the edit.
