Just a very simple seascape. Or should that be cloudscape?

This one has a really soothing and calming effect for me. It's simple, but at the same time it lets eyes wonder around the scene, just for pleasure. :)

Thanks, Andrzej! I like this simple image. Fstoppers is a good forum, especially for its civil behaviour, but there is a distinct tendency to praise frame-covering "interest" in textures, clouds, etc. - which I like as much as anyone, but sometimes "less-is-more" really appeals to me. One like-minded member suggested I start a "minimalist landscape" group. Still thinking about it. Might be a very small group!

I would say it would be "minimalistic" group. :D But I'd be happy to join - I, too, shoot sometimes very simple and minimal landscapes. :)

A superbly balanced composition - well done!

Thank you, Alan. It is one of my own favourites.

Just looking through images and once again this catches my eye - still lovin' it after all this time.

Thanks again, Alan! Neglected doing so earlier. By total coincidence, I've just finished gift-wrapping an A2 print for my brother-in-law, who liked it at my first group show.

Seeing it again I can't believe that this has been rated so low by the community. Every time I see it I am inspired by its simplicity and the beautifully conceived balance of the elements

Thanks, Alan - that's very kind, and very much appreciated coming from you in particular.

I was initially surprised at the average, given the response when I posted this in the Group, but I suspect it's the same issue we hear about - of people seemingly going through portfolios handing out 2s across the board, without comment. It's nice to have high ratings, but I don't give much heed to the numbers, only what people write.

I was just strolling through Chris' gallery thinking the same thing. :)

And the wanker low ratings.... pffftttt.

It's that junction where land leaps up into the sky. There are nutbags up here in the US who think that jet contrails are "chemtrails" of government sterilization programs -- sprinkled out over them from the sky. They'd look at this shot and think the mothership was coming for them.

Cloud shapes have always brought me to pause in the course of a day. I'm grateful for the infinite in them.

I continue to love this image on each return visit - a masterful image Chris, proven by the test of time.

Thanks again, Alan! Glad you enjoy it. This image has been very well received - interesting to me as it's so simple.

Lovely.

Try cropping the right side out, exactly where the point ends. I could see it hanging. Clouds are awesome!
