Torridon

I often go for shots that are slightly ambiguous about their location. Clearly Scotland, but where?

This shot is my happy exception. It portrays the famous vista of the mountains of Torridon from the south side of the glen. Taken from the roadside layby, this is one shot where I don't mind disclosing the location.

I normally would not bother with such a shot as I do value originality, but on this occasion I have to excuse myself. Bathed in the light of the evening sun, shortly after a powerful rain shower had washed the air clear, it was just too good to resist.

The colour version was good, but a B&W version absolutely felt right. The scene had such excellent definition and natural contrast that very little processing was needed, and the bright clouds above the hills gave the shot a lovely classic feel.
