The Guilty Bystander

With this shot, I really wanted to capture the mood of a mid century beauty salon; In my head I was picturing a row of ladies chain smoking while waiting for their perms. However, after playing around with the post processing, I got a kind of 'noir' vibe.

My friends found this hair-dryer-chair for $10 in a small town in Northern Ontario, and bought it immediately. The lighting setup was very simple, a single key coming from camera right. Since we didn't have time to get/make blinds suitable, we used a wooden contraption we found in the house. We filled the room with a haze machine to add to the atmosphere.
