I shot this Ruby Throat hummingbird at Lake Fausse Pointe State Park, in Louisiana. There is a nature center next to boat docks there, and they have hummingbird feeders there. There is a mob of feeding hummingbirds there during spring migration. When I was setting up my "outdoor studio", a kid came up to me and informed me that there was a hummingbird stuck in the water next to the dock. I went over to the dock, and saw it struggling. I jumped in to rescue it, perched it on a tree twig. and picked seaweed off of the bird. He sat there about 15 minutes drying off, and flew away. I would like to think that this is the same bird, but I suppose that is unlikely, since there was a big mob of them.
