Photographed this Blue winged Kookaburra at El Questro Station located in the Western Australia Territory. I was able to walk up to within about 6-8' where it was on a branch head height to me.
The stop at El Questro was part of a 1,800km 4x4 trek taking my wife and I from Darwin, NT to Broome, WA in May of 2019. El Questro is off of the famous Gibb RIver road which traverses a particularly remote portion of the Western Australia outback. Aside from fording a couple of large streams / small rivers to reach El Questro I managed to destroy the first of two tires / wheels that succumbed on our trek. Thank goodness for spares and a little backtracking to get repairs / replacements.
