Portrait of a Turkey Vulture

Visited an organization that takes in birds such as hawks, owls, and vultures among other species that can't take care of themselves in the wild (Earthquest.org). These birds are local to Virginia and can occasionally be seen on the side of the road feasting on a carcass or circling high above. I've lived around these birds all my life but I've never seen one up close. I decided to take a close up of this specimen. I have to admit that there is a kind of odd beauty to this bird that I never appreciated before the shoot.

Excelent colour, light and simetry in the composition.
