Hell Verse

So fortunate to have seen and photograph Iceland's latest lava flow 2021. It's hard to describe how humbling and almost spiritual it was to witness the youngest land on Earth being born, especially as a volcanologist. The power of the Earth beneath our feet is virtually incomprehensible.

I wanted a tight composition, which was difficult given the heat coming off of this fresh break out, but the results show all the intricate textures of the fresh glowing lava folding and pulling apart. Captured while filming on Nikon D850 and 70-200 mm, cropped from 16x9 to 3x2.

Thomas, I love most things volcanic and geothermic haven’t gotten this close to flowing lava,… yet, can only imagine your thrill and awe. I have stood on the very edge of a hot spring in the middle of a river to feel it’s pulsating power and the taming force of the cold mountain water.
Nice cropompostion ( ;-) ) excellent exposure and post-processing. Love the textures and colors for the glowing vibrant oranges to the ruff black and grays of the cooling basalt (terminology ?).
