Unusual Halloween Horrors

Black and white infrared photography turns some kinds of black fabrics white and similarly transposes some naturally dark colors in things like feathers. I found this trait very useful in capturing a different view of Halloween scenes that tend to use lots of black fabrics. This photo shows a section of the annual halloween display created by artist Dolores Dragan in Lambertville, New Jersey. She creates halloween figures in her front yard reminiscent of Tim Burton's creepy creatures. These life-size works were heavily dressed and draped in black but took on a very different white look when I photographed them in infrared.
