The Music Center Los Angeles

I like to arrive early to my paid shoots. Especially my night shoots. This is why, California has some of the best Golden Hours, add a few clouds and it will paint the sky. This day was no different (I hope I did it justice!) I was hired to capture holidy lighting at the Jerry Moss Plaza in Downtown Los Angeles with aerial video. I arrived early and snapped this one. When I shoot architecturally, I focus on a level shot to keep the vertical lines vertical. I simply did not have enough room and my lens was not wide enough (Tamron 15-30mm f/2.8). I felt it was appropriate though as the building is a lot taller than it appears and I wanted to capture the sky which at a flat level was just off balance and didn't look right.

It was a gorgeous sunset one I will not forget for years and although this was probably my most stressful aerial video job, this nice calm photo before was just what I needed. This was a really cool spot to film as the plaza, park and city hall are so iconic (as a fan of cinema). I can't even begin to list how many shows or movies have been shot right here. I don't know about you but as an architectural photographer I find myself more excited to see filming locations than the celebrities I have been fortunate enough to work with selling their homes in LA.

This was a dream job and one I enjoyed thoroughly after getting through the initial stress of flying a drone in DTLA over private property. Even with full permission, I was stopped more than one time by security and had to land and wait for them to verify I was the guy the Music Hall was working with to capture the holiday lighting in Jerry Moss Plaza.
