The griffon vulture (Gyps fulvus)

It can reach 10 kg in weight, with a wingspan that exceeds 2.5 m (and can reach 260 cm). The feathers are ocher or cinnamon in color on most of the body (back, ventral area and anterior half of the wings), this being the reason for its common name with the nickname "fawn". These tawny feathers turn dark brown or black on the rectrices of the tail and end of the remiges. The base of the neck is surrounded by white filofeathers like a ruff. The photo was taken late in the afternoon when the sun's rays entered horizontally and gave this tone to the bird.
