Taken on my last solo backpacking trip in WA, for now. I was camped on a beautiful ridge, no other humans around. A storm passed over the mountain in front of me, and as it cleared, a rainbow appeared on one side and beautiful evening light began to light up the scene from the other. I could not ask for more perfect conditions.
This also was probably one of the most challenging images I've created. I was getting swarmed by mosquitos for a couple hours as I searched for the right foreground and then crouched down and took multiple exposures of different potential compositions and light. The real challenge, however, was stitching together the hand-held focus stack. That was an absolute nightmare and right now I feel like I never want to do a hand-held focus stack like this again.
Hopefully the result came out at least kind of okay. One thing I can say for sure is it doesn't do justice to the experience of actually being on that ridge that evening.
