5 Reasons Photoshop's Clone Stamp Isn't Obsolete

Photoshop's Clone Stamp has long been one of the program's most useful tools, but with a bevy of new and advanced tools, including Content Aware Fill and Generative AI, it might seem like such a simple tool might be obsolete. Nothing could be further from the truth, though. This fantastic video tutorial features a seasoned Photoshop pro sharing five reasons why the Clone Stamp is still relevant and how you can use it in your work.

Coming to you from Unmesh Dinda with PiXimperfect, this great video tutorial will show you five great reasons why the Clone Stamp tool is still an excellent option for working in Photoshop. One of the main reasons I still love the Clone Stamp tool is simply because it offers complete control. As power as tools like Content Aware Fill and Generative AI are, they are imperfect and can get things wrong sometimes. When that happens, the Clone Stamp can be just what is needed, allowing you to select and insert exactly what you want. If you are using it, remember to take advantage of the feathering tool to help make the transitions imperceptible and naturally blend your edits. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Dinda.

I still use it for edges of objects or replacing long lines of things. It's great for it when other tools like spot healing keep leaving dark marks behind on things.
