A Beginner's Guide to Photoshop

Photoshop is a very complex and intricate program, and it can feel a bit overwhelming when you are new to photography and just starting to learn how to use it. If you are new to the program and wondering how to get started, check out this excellent video tutorial that will get you on the right track in no time.

Coming to you from Tyler Stalman, this helpful video tutorial will show you everything you need to know to get started editing in Photoshop. Of all the topics Stalman covers, one to really pay attention to is the basics of working with layers. The beauty of layers is that they allow you to work non-destructively; in other words, since you are not applying edits directly to the base photo, you can undo them or make adjustments to them whenever you would like without suffering any sort of loss in image quality. They are also how you will start working with masks, which allow you to selectively apply edits to just part of the image. It is a good idea to get used to working with layers as soon as possible. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Stalman.
