If I had to give one tip to newer portrait photographers, it would be when it comes to the editing stage, err on the side of doing less. Today's editing tools are tremendously powerful, and while that can make our work easier, the downside is that they make it very easy to go overboard. An overly processed portrait can look artificial and can even be insulting to the client. Aiming for a natural, mildly processed look is a great way to start building your skills.
