Being a photographer requires a lot of different skills. A well-rounded photographer (pun intended) has technical proficiency with cameras, an understanding of the physics of light, and certainly a lot of business ability. However, there is one skill that all creatives must have. It relates to judgment and valuing your work. Check out this great video to learn more.
Coming to you from The Photographic Eye, this insightful video talks about a very important topic of valuing your photographic work and not judging it by other photographer's standards. Most photographers can develop practical photography skills such as exposure, composition, lighting, and framing. The next step from there is business. Once the ball gets rolling, some start seeing that they are not improving as much as they were.
For example, when I started out each photo I shot was definitely better than the previous one. However, as time went on, I stopped seeing the immediate improvement. What is worse, I kept on seeing work that was better than mine and judging myself by that standard. I strongly suggest watching this video as it is arguably one of the very important ones all photographers and creatives must see.
