Comparing Canon's Impressive RF 50mm f/1.2L to the EF 50mm f/1.2L

The Canon EF 50mm f/1.2L was one of the company's most well-known and popular lenses, but it was a rather quirky model that was not without flaws in both autofocus performance and image quality. On the other hand, the new RF 50mm f/1.2L USM quickly established that the company had set a new standard for itself when it came to lens design and image quality. Just how much better is the new model? This great video review takes a look at both old and new to answer that question.

Coming to you from Kai W, this great video review compares the RF 50mm f/1.2L USM lens to the old EF 50mm f/1.2L model. The EF version was quite popular and still sits in the bags of many wedding and studio photographers, though its autofocus was especially finicky and sharpness at wider apertures left a lot to be desired. Nonetheless, it had a very distinct rendering that overcame those issues for most photographers, leading to its popularity. The RF version seems to have solved both those problems and sits at a tier distinctly above that of its EF predecessor. Of course, you will pay for the major jump in image quality and performance, but it may be worth it to many, as it is quite impressive, to say the least. Check out the video above for the full rundown.

How anybody can call this a review?

Is Alex Cooke doing nothing else then posting youtube videos on fstoppers? There is some really good and original content on this website (the tamron 150-500 review!), but man these youtube reposts (especially if they are such los quality vids) devalue this site alot imo…i can browse youtube myself.

Sure, if its some really cool and well done or unique video, but Kai.W. Is just lazy not very knowldged or skilled and nothing i would ever recommend…
