Viltrox has gained a fair amount of popularity in recent years by offering affordable lenses that still offer good image quality, and it seems like they have hit a sweet spot with this option, which offers impressive sharpness even wide open, which alone could make it a worthwhile upgrade over the standard sub-$100 nifty fifty and could leave a lot more room for the photographer to grow with the lens. And at $379, it does not hit the wallet quite as hard as top 50mm lenses, which often can exceed $1,000. And while those often offer an f/1.4 or f/1.2 maximum aperture, it is worth remembering that the difference between f/1.8 and f/1.4 is less than a stop, and with today's high-ISO performance, you probably won't miss it much.
