It used to be that zoom lenses almost never went below f/2.8, but we have recently seen lens designs pushed to a new level, such as in this lens or Canon's highly impressive 28-70mm f/2L. I have had the Canon for a while now, and it has so successfully blurred the line between prime and zoom that I can't imagine myself ever going back to carrying a few primes given the massive increase in versatility and convenience, both coupled with impressive image quality. Tamron's lens seems to follow a similar vein, offering what is arguably an even more convenient focal length range. Check out the video above for Trotti's full thoughts on the lens.

You seem to think that two links in 4 days is too many. Why? I assumed your first post was a complaint. Was I wrong?
As an event shooter, I find this lens far more appealing than almost any other zoom available. I decided against it when I learned the aperture is only f2.8 at 85mm. I went the other way and replaced my 85/1.8 and 35/1.8 with f1.4 versions. While this zoom looks like a good option for some event shooters, I often find myself in dim environments where the primes' larger apertures are a distinct advantage. So, not for me, but a very intriguing zoom, nonetheless.
I 2nd shot a wedding yesterday and this lens would have been perfect.
