Viltrox has developed a reputation for creating very affordable lenses that still offer very good performance and image quality. One of their newest options is the Viltrox AF 13mm f/1.4, which offers Sony, Fujifilm, and Nikon mirrorless APS-C shooters a nice combination of an ultra-wide focal length and a very wide maximum aperture. This great video review takes a look at the lens and the sort of performance and image quality you can expect from it in practice.
Coming to you from Dustin Abbott, this excellent video review takes a look at the Viltrox AF 13mm f/1.4 lens for Sony, Nikon, and Fujifilm APS-C cameras. At $429, the 13mm f/1.4 is quite affordable, but it still comes with a range of useful features, including:
- Two high refractive index lens elements for less distortion
- Two aspherical elements for reduced distortion and improved sharpness
- Four ED low dispersion elements for less chromatic aberrations and better color reproduction
- STM motor for quick and quiet autofocus suitable for both photos and video
- Weight: 420 g (E mount, X mount), 455 g (Z mount)
- Dust-proof construction
Altogether, the 13mm f/1.4 looks like another impressive entry from Viltrox. Check out the video above for Abbott's full thoughts on the lens.
Crazy that this is less than $500
I have this lens for my Fujifilm X-T3. It's the perfect ultra wide focal length to have without crossing into fisheye territory. It's hand down one of the best lenses available for the X-Mount ecosystem, and by far the best lens that Viltrox has produced to date.
I have the Z Mount version, excellent little lens. I use it on my z7ii and though it's chopping my MP count from 45 to like 20, making it a 19.5mm 1.4, it's really sharp and renders well. AF is quick. Using it for landscapes and some Astro MW-core shots. There are better lenses, of course, but not at this price.
