We are lucky to have a huge range of quality supertelephoto zoom lenses to choose from nowadays — so many, in fact, that it can be difficult to know which is right for you. This excellent video review takes a look at three of the best options: the Sigma 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3 DG DN OS Sports, Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Sports, and the Sony FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS.
Coming to you from Christopher Frost, this great video review compares the Sigma 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3 DG DN OS Sports, Sigma 150-600mm f/5-6.3 DG DN OS Sports, and the Sony FE 200-600mm f/5.6-6.3 G OSS. No doubt, all three of these lenses are versatile and impressive performers, but it is hard for me to not be drawn to the Sigma 60-600mm f/4.5-6.3. Being able to cover normal and short telephoto focal lengths in addition to the super-long reach put this lens at another level in terms of versatility and make it easier to adapt to quickly evolving conditions, plus that is one less lens you have to purchase and carry. Check out the video above for Frost's full thoughts on all three lenses.

Best is a 500mm f/4 IS which can be had for about the same price as a 60-600mm including tax.
It is 10 times the lens with great IQ, fast AF and handles extenders like a boss. Even with the 2X you can get a sharp 1000mm f/8 that is usable even for BIF the AF. the primary reason anyone is buying one if these lenses is the 600mm end. The wide end is just there as a bonus, but not of prime importance or the reason anyone is looking at these lenses in the first place. It is a secondary consideration. There are many lighter and smaller alternatives if you didn't need the 600mm end.
These exist because you are probably wanting to do some wildlife photography without breaking the bank compared to the the 500mm f/4 IS II or 600mm f/4 IS II or III, 800mm f/5.6 etc. This will probably be the majority of buyers besides those wanting reach for other reasons like sports and such. But most hobbiests doing sports are probably just gonna go with other options though or use this to compliment a 70-200mm or something.
