Why the Canon EOS R10 is a Great Choice for Beginners and Pros

Buying a new camera that delivers great results without breaking the bank is a tough task. The Canon EOS R10 might fit the bill.

Coming to you from Pav SZ, this informative video explores the Canon EOS R10's capabilities. Designed to be user-friendly, the EOS R10 features intelligent auto and scene presets for those new to cameras, with on-screen explanations to help users understand functions. For more experienced users, full manual control is available, similar to bigger, professional cameras. The image quality is impressive, producing sharp, punchy, Canon-worthy photos even with cheap lenses. The autofocus is responsive, and the touchscreen makes it easy to focus by simply touching the screen.

The camera’s size makes it ideal for travel or street photography, providing great images without the bulk of larger cameras. It’s also a great second camera or a discreet option for street photography. However, the smaller sensor has some limitations. It’s not great in low light and struggles with higher ISO settings, leading to digital noise.

Video performance is decent, though not spectacular. It records in 8-bit by default, with no log flat profile for color grading. It’s ideal for capturing moments and creating social media content, offering full manual control and good autofocus. The HDR movie option provides 10-bit video files with more dynamic range, and it can record 4K up to 60p with a slight crop, and 120 fps in Full HD for slow motion. However, it lacks optical stabilization, and electronic stabilization is minimal, adding more crop. There’s a microphone input but no headphone output for monitoring sound.

The Canon Camera Connect app allows users to control the camera and download photos and videos directly to their phone. It can be used as a webcam via USB-C or for live-streaming directly to YouTube via Wi-Fi. The build quality is impressive for a camera this small, featuring a good hand grip and a fully articulated LCD screen. It uses Canon LP-E17 batteries, which offer decent usage time and are cheap to buy extra.

Overall, the Canon EOS R10 is a capable camera that offers great value for money. Check out the video above for the full rundown.

It's interesting seeing such an indepth review on a budget camera like this. Did he take all those photos with this or are those Canon promotional images? That's seriously impressive if he took that range in just a month.
