Will This Affordable Conversion Lens Make Your Fujifilm X100V More Versatile?

The Fujifilm X100V is a popular and widely respected camera that offers a unique shooting experience and excellent image quality. With a fixed 35mm-equivalent lens, however, you might sometimes wish for a bit more versatility. The WCL-X100 II Wide Conversion lens allows you to turn that 35mm lens into a 28mm lens, and this great video review takes a look at the device and the sort of image quality and performance you can expect from it.

Coming to you from Benj Haisch, this excellent video review takes a look at the Fujifilm WCL-X100 II Wide Conversion lens. With a conversion factor of 0.8x, the WCL-X100 II turns the camera's 35mm f/2 (equivalent) lens into a 28mm f/2 lens. Certainly, those who use the X100V for things like street photography will appreciate the ability to go a bit wider, and at $349, the WCL-X100 II is an affordable way to do so. One thing to consider is that the WCL-X100 II does add a bit of bulk, particularly to the profile of the camera, so if you like that relatively flat and compact form, you may have to compromise a bit. Nonetheless, it is an affordable and easy way to increase the versatility of the camera. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Haisch.

That's pretty awesome! Being a Fujifilm shooter myself with the X-T2 & X-T3, I've often thought about purchasing an X100v as a discrete backup/travel camera. For my personal use, a fixed 35mm is too limiting. 28mm is too tight as well. If they come out with a 16, 20, or 23mm conversion, it's highly possible that I reconsider buying one. This is definitely a step in the right direction.

I agree.
When I owned the x100f, I also purchased the 50mm extension, which was really great, but ver bulky. Image quality was pretty nice, so I'd say yes, if this is your travel lightly camera it's worth buying. Didn't buy the 28mm extension, because this difference isn't worth the money imho.

Years ago I bought the Fuji X100s (which I still have). I bought later both the 28mm and 50mm adapters. The X100s while better than the X100 was still not brilliant at focusing, Over time it became compared to full frame cameras sort of weak. Fuji improved the series but they are very expensive. The adapters are fine quality wise but a bit fiddly. 24mm would have been a more flexible option. In the end all three are in a drawer unused. Probably all 3 are the biggest waste of money in my photography. Not that they were bad but they were limited and not transferable.

the 23mm (35 equiv) of the xv100 is a sweet lens - clean and crisp at f2 and f2.8, and virtually flawless at 5.6

Why ruin it with extra junk

most Leica owners never took off their 35 2.0 or 2.8 lenses
why would you?

The X100 series really is an all in one street/walk around camera for people happy to stick to one focal length.

Just my opinion, but I'd buy a used X-T20 or X-T30 body. This way, you will open yourself up to the entire Fuji lens lineup, as well as vintage lenses, which can be mounted via cheap M42 adapters. I do love my X100T though, in fact it is my favorite camera in my massive collect.
