Ignacio Torres puts together a series of animated photos that are nothing short of cool. You maybe put off by the motion at first, thinking: "Just another set of animated gifs." but the more I look at these shots the more I like them, especially once you understand the concept behind them. The technique Inacio used to create galaxies, though simple, was surprisingly effective.
"This project began from the theory that humans are made of cosmic matter as a result of a stars death. I created imagery that showcased this cosmic birth through the use of dust and reflective confetti to create galaxies. The models organic bodily expressions as they are frozen in time between the particles suggest their celestial creation. In addition, space and time is heightened by the use of three-dimensional animated gifs. Their movement serves as a visual metaphor to the spatial link we share with stars as well as their separateness through time."-Ignacio Torres-

Very Interesting!
Baby bullet time. I dig.
me transmite algo magico, extraño y magico. Esteticamente interesantes. Me gusta mucho
Very nice concept! There a movie I remember I saw, 'golden compass' where people are connected through 'dust' with the the rest of the universe, they kind of picture it in the same way as these pictures. Fantastic.
Would be much more "impactful" if shot with nudes...
I love the concept, some of the motion is a bit too jarring in my opinion...though smoother animation might not convey the idea of a star's death as well. Still, a very cool effect.
can I say F-ing awesome
I really like a couple of these images at least stills. Particularly the girl falling back kicking up sand. I'm not sure if the little bit of motion adds or takes away from the image.
If the concept of the images needs to be explained then doesn't that suggest that the intended goal of the images wasn't achieved? Is it important for images to speak for themselves?
Are these pictures shot with multiple cameras?
If you like these check this guys work out, he uses java script to create smooth unpredictable loops and the results are amazing...
