In this article you will discover how well the new BlackMagic Ursa Mini Pro 4.6K G2 handles high frame rates and low light situations. Does this new version of the Ursa Mini Pro live up to the hype?
Before we get to the results, let us first go over some of the technical parts of this test starting with the lenses used in the video. This BlackMagic Ursa Mini Pro 4.6K G2 test was shot using vintage adapted Contax Zeiss MM lenses specifically the 35/1.4, 50/1.4 and 85/1.4.
The video was edited in Davinci Resolve 15 and exported in UHD 24 fps and all shots are 4.6K BRAW and no stabilization or noise reduction was applied in any scene. All of the footage was filmed at ISO 800 and adjusted in post between ISO 200 and ISO 1600. All 120 fps daylight shots use the camera's internal ND at the 4 stops settings.
With the technical jargon out of the way, if you are a video shooter who requires high frame rates to capture action scenes as well as being able to handle low light situations then this might be the camera for you.
The BlackMagic Ursa Mini Pro 4.6K G2 besides the high frame rates and low light ability is also able to shoot with the new BlackMagic raw codec that was recently added to the smaller Black Magic Pocket Cinema Camera 4k.
Let me know what you think of the results of this videos, do you think the high frame rates are something you would take advantage of in your workflow? And if you already own the original BlackMagic Ursa Mini Pro 4.6K do you think it is worth it to you to upgrade to the G2 version?
