It's always fun to track how various Fstoppers writers grow in their career and undertake new challenges. Mike Kelley has been one of my favorites to watch with the success of his first and second architectural photography tutorials, as well as his expanding aerial photography work. He successfully created and promoted a book featuring his aerial work of Los Angeles. Now, Mike is helping to judge a new aerial photography contest being put on by SkyPixel. If you'd like to participate, check out the details below.
For the last several years, SkyPixel has held an aerial photography contest that has brought in submissions from over 140 different countries. Last year, over 11,000 photos were sent in for consideration. This year, the contest is open again with entries being accepted from October 25 – December 31. Mike Kelley, along with five other judges, will be selecting who win this year's prizes. The competition will be steep, shown by compelling photo above by Jeff or the following by Andrew Thomas.
This year’s Grand Prize will be a DJI Mystery Box, a DJI Mavic Pro, Epson Moverio BT-300 smart glasses and Epson SureColor P400 Wide Format Photo Printer, and an Adobe Creative Cloud Photography membership (1 year). Other prizes include the DJI Osmo+ and DJI Osmo Mobile.
SkyPixel will also award a so-called Popular Prize to the top-10 most-popular photographs at the end of the submission period. Winners will receive a copy of “Above the World: Earth Through a Drone’s Eye,” a book from DJI celebrating its 10th year anniversary and drawing from photos submitted to SkyPixel, an Insta360 Nano and a Ctrip coupon worth $290 USD.
If you'd like to enter, visit the contest page.
"I'm going to give this a two out of five." - Mike will say on five out of five photos :-P
