Tips on Improving Your Lighting: Natural Light and Strobes

One of the most important things in photography is lighting. It doesn't matter if it's natural light or artificial light, how you capture it is key. Here are a few tips on how you can improve your lighting.

In this video, photographer Brett Seeley teams up with natural light photographer Michael Sasser to shoot the same model in a boudoir setting. Sasser goes first and shoots three different scenarios while sharing his tips in shooting only with natural light. To follow up each scenario, Seeley shares his tips to get a similar look in the same scene but with the use of strobes. Whether you shoot strictly natural light or strobes, these tips are useful in lighting your shoot.

If you are on the fence on which path you want to take as a photographer with strobes versus natural light, you can check out the difference in this video between the two photographers. While I wouldn't say one lighting method is better than the other, the most important thing is to understand lighting and being able to use it in any situation.

What are some other tips you have that helped you improve your lighting? Share your tips and photos in the comment section below.
