Martin Schoeller is one of my all time favorite portrait photographers. In this behind the scenes video we go on a journey with Martin in one of his campaigns for one of my favorite Italian coffees, Lavazza. I'll go so far as to say this is my favorite BTS video of the last six months. Below is another BTS video from Lavazza and a link to more.
Schoeller is probably most well know for his super close up "big head," yet shallow depth, portraits of celebrities as seen on the cover of Time magazine. He's basically shot everyone I've ever wanted to shoot bourbon with including Bill Murray, Clint Eastwood, Christopher Walken. Martin is German born and moved to New York in the early nineties where he assisted for Annite Leibovitz and developed his unique style of portraits that propelled him to the next level. In his early years he was influenced by photographers August Sander, Bernd Becher, and Hilla Becher. He studied photography at Lette Verein in Berlin.
