Misty Autumn Photography and a Mobile Darkroom

In this behind-the-scenes video, watch a beautiful autumnal shoot take place, first during the blue hour, and then with some incredible morning light through the mist. Then, to top it off, some on-location printing!

This video takes place in one of my favorite locations in the U.K.: the Peak District. I am often critical of the U.K. — well, primarily England, actually — when it comes to landscape photography. However, the Peak District and the Lake District are undoubtedly beautiful, with mountainous terrain, clean air, and woodlands in abundance.

It is perhaps the clean air that lends itself to the primary feature of this shoot: beautiful light. I live wedged between two major cities and although the light can still be nice, it never gets that crispness reserved for the mountains. Whenever you're lucky enough to combine that stunning light with some morning mist, you get an ethereal view that makes for some excellent photography. The idea of then printing the image on-location so you have a physical result from your outing just adds to the magic!
