EyeEm, the community-focused photo sharing app, is now taking photographic submissions for its 2014 Awards contest. Users of the app (avilable on Android and iPhone) can upload their photographs for free in any one of ten categories reflecting aspects of modern photography to be eligible for a selection of prizes and publication opportunities.
In order to be eligible for the contest, users must tag their uploaded photographs with one of ten categories like "The Portraitist" (fairly self-explanatory) or "The Illuminator" which focuses on creative use of light. There is no limit on uploads, as long as they are submitted before the August 1 deadline. Judging begins August 4, and finalists are announced on the 26th. Finalists will be included in the EyeEm Best of 2014 photo book and can win gear and be offered exhibition or publishing opportunities. One photographer will be chosen from the group of finalists as the EyeEm Photographer of the Year, and will be flown to Berlin for the two day 2014 EyeEm Festival.
