By far, the most common mistake I see beginners (and often experienced) photographers make is overediting a photo. It takes a little while to get a good sense of just how far to push a photo in the editing process, and as such, we often take things just a bit too far. Generally, it is better to err on the side of under-editing if anything. Try to step away from your edit when it is done for a few minutes and reevaluate it with fresh eyes at the end; it will often help you to get a better sense of how far the edit has gone.
