There are a lot of products out there that promise to make you a better photographer quickly, whether by teaching you some well-kept secret or by offering a magic shortcut known only to seasoned pros. While those can all be quite enticing, the real secret to becoming a better photographer is something we do not always want to hear.
Coming to you from Ben Harvey Photography, this great video discusses the importance of consistent practice. It seems obvious, but many of us (myself included) are guilty of not taking enough opportunities to go out and shoot, make mistakes, learn from them, and grow as photographic technicians and as creatives. Part of the problem is that we often assume going out to shoot has to be a big thing, but even just a 15-minute daily walk with your camera can do wonders. It is just like studying for a test in school: small blocks of consistent daily practice will yield much better long-term results than just cramming the night before, and besides, it gives us a chance to get outside and do something we love every day. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Harvey.
