The Best Canon EOS R5 Settings for Bird Photography

The Canon EOS R5 has proven itself to be one of the most powerful cameras ever released, and that means it is also a rather complex device, with a variety of settings and features that take some tweaking to get the best performance from the camera. This fantastic video tutorial will show you how to best set up your EOS R5 for bird photography and similar work.

Coming to you from Jan Wegener, this excellent video tutorial will show you how to set up your Canon EOS R5 for the best performance for bird photography. When it comes to setting up the camera, one area you should pay particular attention to is the autofocus settings. The EOS R5's autofocus system is quite advanced and contains a wide array of niche features like animal eye autofocus and adjustable parameters relating to autofocus behavior. Since these settings are so specific, if you shoot multiple genres that require different autofocus behavior, remember that you can include these parameters in custom shooting modes, so you can easily switch between different autofocus setups (along with a variety of other settings) with just the flick of the mode dial. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Wegener.

I watched that and a couple other wildlife shooters set up videos when I picked up the R5 and 6. Jan does a good job I think of setting it up. He also has some great videos about how he sets up a lot of his shots to get great bird photographs.

Excellent video. Very helpful and clearly explained. Thank you Jan.
