The Different Types of Light in Landscape Photography

One of the things I have always loved about landscape photography is the way the same scene can be rendered in vastly different ways by various types of light. This great video discusses the many different types of light you will encounter in landscape photography and offers some helpful tips for working with them along with some example images.

Coming to you from Photo Tom, this excellent video discusses the different types of light in landscape photography and how to work with them, ranging from classic golden light through to flat light and hard light. I think it is important to learn to embrace the various types of light and learn to work with them, as there is a tendency to focus exclusively on golden hour. Of course, golden hour photos can be dramatic and beautiful, but that only constitutes a small fraction of time throughout the day, which can mean you miss out on lots of opportunities, as good images can be made in any type of light. Check out the video above for lots of helpful information.
