Five Tips for Editing Vertical Video

Like it or not, vertical video is quickly becoming more of a thing. As media is consumed on mobile devices more and more, their natural orientation (which for content creators is infuriatingly orthogonal to a monitor) makes the proliferation of vertically oriented video a sure thing. This great video will give you some tips for editing vertical video.

Coming to you from Justin Odisho, this helpful video will show you some tips for editing vertical video, especially for Instagram. While Instagram allows you to post horizontal videos and put black bars over the top and bottom or rotate a video horizontally, the former doesn't take advantage of all the screen space and the latter relies on the user to willingly turn their phone sideways, which isn't guaranteed and isn't a good practice for crafting the best experience of your content. On the other hand, one of the great things is that if you've shot in a horizontal orientation at a high resolution, you'll be left with some space on either side, and this can allow you to create some cool effects, such as faking a slider shot. Check out the video above for more helpful tips.
