Photoshop is a tremendously capable program full of tons of capabilities, but one of the most fundamental and useful of them is Camera Raw. If you are new to Photoshop, this helpful video will show you just how much you can accomplish using Camera Raw to edit your images.
Coming to you from Aaron Nace with Phlearn, this great video discusses the Camera Raw interface in Photoshop. Camera Raw is made for global edits on images, including things like tweaking white balance, exposure, shadows and highlights, and more, but it has capabilities beyond that, such as correcting deficiencies in lenses. Before you get editing, it is important to open your raw images as Smart Objects. To do this, when you open the image in Camera Raw, look near the bottom of the dialog where data about the photo is displayed. Click on the data and check "Open in Photoshop as Smart Objects." This is useful because now, whenever you bring a raw image into Photoshop, you will retain the ability to make changes to the original raw whenever you want. Simply double-click on its layer at anytime to do this. Check out the video above for the full rundown.
