How to Set Yourself Up for Success as a Photographer

We talk a lot about the many things it takes to be a successful photographer, including strong creativity, good technique, and excellent business skills. However, before anything else, it requires the proper mindset for success. If you struggle with that, this fantastic video essay will help you get back on the right track.

Coming to you from Chelsea Nicole Photography, this awesome video essay discusses the proper mindset for finding success as a photographer. No doubt, good technique and strong business acumen are crucial, but a lot of us are our own worst enemies. With the rise of social media, it is easier than ever to digest hundreds of photos in just a few minutes, and in between that and the unfortunate amount of vitriol that seems to pervade the internet, it can be easy to start to feel impostor syndrome and to end up discouraged, which can have very real effects on your work. Try to remember that we are all at different points in our creative journeys. It can be helpful to find a fellow photographer or two whose opinion you trust and to take any other feedback (particularly unsolicited) you get with a grain of salt. Check out the video above for the full rundown.
