Large-scale film productions take an incredible amount of work by a veritable plethora of talented people fulfilling numerous roles to pull off. It's easy to overlook just how much goes on behind the scenes as the credits roll past, but this great video explains who does what and just how much goes into making a successful film.
Watching film credits roll by with a list of job titles and names can be a bit like trying to read French in Russian for the uninitiated. Luckily, John P. Hess of Filmmaker IQ made this amazingly comprehensive video to explain not only who does what on a set, but how the entire structure fits together to bring a production to fruition. It definitely gave me a new appreciation for the importance of each job, and as a composer, it was neat to see where my little branch would be on the giant overall tree. Not only will the video give you a reason to stick around after a film and watch the credits, it'll also help you understand how to divvy up tasks as you move into larger-scale productions and where to slot yourself into it all.
