Shooting a Fast Food Ad with an iPhone

The guys over at DigitalRev TV love doing things just for the hell of it and never seem to backdown from a challenge. Their latest of which is to take the actual food from a popular fast food chain and make it look like the advertisements.  As an added challange they use nothing but Apple gadgets.  It took two iPads and an iPhone, with a bit of paper diffusion, to illuminate the product.  One iPhone to shoot it.  And a lot of man handling of the food to yielded some pretty ok results.  But it's clear that with the principle ideas of creativity and ingenuity (and a bit of effort) you can use what you have on-hand to get the job done.

In this video, the challenge has been set to re-create a fast food chain's burger ad pics using the actual food you get from the fast food chains themselves, but the only thing is - everything has to be shot with an iPhone. -DigitalRev TV

Just think of all the professionals spent such inordinate amounts of money on Canon, Nikon, or Phase One gear, and all you had to do was use your iPhone!

Another "hey look, we did this with an iPhone" routine. This has gotten so old it's not even funny anymore.

Not sure thats what this was trying to illustrate but if youre tired of seeing them and have no interest, to each their own. If course for commercial applications, an appropriate camera is preferred but its still interesting to see what people are able to capture with someone might consider a low end camera to me.

Its also nice to see that a decent portion of these types of shoots isnt how many MP or lenses you have, but also about lighting and understanding how it affects the quality of a photo.

lol his challenges are always entertaining, and I've learned from them. I've even used some of his tips to take photos at work where I'm very limited on what I can use. I have used our only approved camera and my iphone light and some 11x17 paper to take some decent product shots :P
