The Boy Who Doesn't Exist

This photo is the only documentation proving this boy exists-- his name is Voorhees and he’s 9 years old. While volunteering in Guatemala, I learned politicians freely neglect the underclass citizens living in garbage dumps because they don’t have birth certificates. Without formal documents, the government can say these people don’t exist thus allowing the state to pocket the money saved instead of providing help. These people do exist, and they do need help.
