Bushy Beach in Oamaru, New Zealand is home to a colony of yellow eyed penguins. When I captured this photo at sunrise it was one of very few days each year that the penguins do not go to the sea, but instead stay in the bush and build their nests. But still, just after this shot was taken, I was lucky enough to see a penguin come out and stand on the beach for ten minutes, before heading back into the bush. This was the first stop on a trip that took me around the world and changed my life.
