This was a test shoot I did a few years back. I loved the look of this mechanical watch and really wanted to highlight all the different textures and surfaces. The image of the back of the watch was shot separately and then composited with the front shot. Overall, I think the composite looks good, however, technically you should see the back side of the front watch reflected in the other but I only had one watch to shoot.

If you're interested in getting an insight into how I shoot watches, check out this video - https://youtu.be/JkHkQZcz_Bk. I made it much harder for myself by only using one light in the video but it gives you a very good idea of my technique.

Fabulous technique but the composition ...

Flawless shot!! Textures, reflections, deep of field, composition you check them all. Did you use focus stacking and/or multiple exposures?

Thanks Olivier. Yes to both. I focus stacked and took quite a few images to comp together. Glad you liked it!

Ah! Ah! I've just seen you website and understood why your picture catch my eyes. Square Mountain is in my bookmarks for several months now and I've watch all your tutorials, tips, etc. on your blog. I'm building my porfolio and you are a great source of inspiration/knowledge for me. I really like your work with watches. Keep up the good job!!

Thanks! That's really cool to hear. Been pretty busy recently and not had much time to upload videos but that will change soon!

Hahaa I've just been watching your tutorial on frequency separation with this image ;)
