2.42 - "Needs Work"

The January Wolfmoon supermoon rising above the Linville Gorge at twilight. This night was bitterly cold, with temps in the teens and a steady breeze. Worth it though and the moon completely lit up my hike out, so no need for a headlamp.

If this is a single exposure, this is AMAZING. I think people are assuming this is a replacement sky and moon. Even if it is, this made me debate internally, so I’m just giving the high mark. I like it.

This was shot at 12mm at f9 and was focus stacked over 3 shots, the last shot (the background) was shot at a shorter shutter speed to capture the color in the sky. The three exposures were auto blended in PS, the sky was not replaced. At 12mm, the moon did not look what i was seeing with my eyes, so i took another shoot of the moon at 135mm, then placed that moon at the same spot the moon was rising in the original frame.

It is nicely done. Except now you have the sky BEHIND the moon, which cannot happen.
