I found only this one so far. ;)

I really like the subject (well, what can I say, I have thing for mountains myself ;), overall composition, the cloud on the top and the harsh atmosphere of the inaccessible and hostile environment. It almost looks like a Mount Doom, before Sauron took it. ;)

It's a solid image for me (hence 3 stars). There are still, however, some things that bug me and prevent me from putting a 4 star on this:

1. lighting - I wish the light was little more interesting. I know weather can be a d*ck and we have to work with what we have, but this peak is screaming for at least some patch of light that would introduce so much more dynamics into the scene.

2. Framing - I like the play of the white snow with a small white cloud on the bottom. But I think keeping it in the frame introduces too much of the dark, uninteresting space. Almost whole lower third of the image is super dark, with no texture and only slightly visible layers of hills. I think the composition could be stronger with tighter crop.

Having all that said, I think it's a great location and have potential for some super awesome shots. Just keep going there. :)

Excellent, thank you for the reply, I really appreciate the feedback. I agree with the 3 star review, I don't think its a 4 star image.

My hope is to come back to this location with a 200mm lens in the evening for a better photo. The image before editing was extra boring. I tried to polish a 2 star image into a 3 star image.

This is what the image looked like before editing: https://adobe.ly/2FKlcYb

Thanks again for the comment, I really do appreciate it. You have a really good way of working with the light in your photos. I just started taking photos with a non-cellphone 5 months ago. Its been a lot of fun!

Now that you shared an uncropped version of the image I see two things:

1. It would be hard to crop it more - it's already heavily cropped so the quality loss would be too big. Longer lens will definitely help. :)

2. Now the dark foreground doesn't bother me so much. Why? Because it's overweighted with brighter sky.

Now, that said, the sky isn't that interesting to keep it all there, but I think you could try doing some "fatter" ratio, like 4x5 (vertical) on this and seeing if it's gonna work. I did a quick crop on it, hope you don't mind: http://i65.tinypic.com/zlq03s.jpg

What do you think?

I do like that aspect ratio a lot more!

I really need to come back with better lighting and more interesting clouds. If you are interested, I can send you a link of the photo when I retake it. This location is only a 45 min drive and an hour hike away from my home.

Sure thing! Just PM me and we can discuss the other photos of it. :)

This is a solid 5 stars for me. I love the dark area which I think is more interesting than a white sky tbh. But really it's very subjective.

Thank you for your kind words Amy!
