For this image to work i wanted a strong contrast between sky, water and the boat. Therefore I removed some of the blue from the water and made it more in line with the white that was already in there from the foam. For the sky I tried to put some emphasis on the Sun setting. So the more intense colours of the sunset are being funneled by the darker purple and pink

Lots of color banding in the sky and lots more in the sun's reflection. I think you probably pushed past the limits of what was available to edit in this image.
