Congratulations to the winners!
I would love to have a little feedback on this one. I moved around a lot trying to find a good angle on this monument and found it really hard to get something I liked.
Other people’s art.
True, and that is why I made sure I listed the sculptor. Thanks for the feedback though! I will stay away from such shots from now on.
While Russell Stubbs is correct, you cited the sculptor, and in the case of a monument, one can make pictures that praise that work. Such as striking photo of the statue of liberty. I think it is not a black and white conversation-- I think it is a powerful image that pays homage to the work of another artist and an important man.
Thanks! I appreciate the comments and feedback. I walked around taking several shots of the monuments in Washington. I found this one the hardest to get a nice picture of. I didn't like the early morning light shots; the shadows were very deep. I caught this later in the day during a small break in the clouds. Other monuments have other elements around them, eg, the mall, or columns, or plants. This sits in the wide open, so pointing the camera up and catching some texture with the clouds seemed to give the feel I was experiencing.
