Hi Tor , did you have difficulty bringing the milky way out in post or is this intentional
I actually like the muted milky way, it feels more realistic and what you would actually see if you were at this location. It has a very serene feel to the image as opposed to some of the other ones where the milky way is like a neon light across the sky.
I've seen some amazing compositions where the milky way does look unreal, but it's so well done that it doesn't matter. For me personally, though, I usually stick to less contrast and saturation to keep things more 'natural'.
This is one shot, so it was a bit tricky to balance exposure for both milky way and the mountains. I did some local brushing etc. That said, I personally try not to go overboard with contrast and clarity for the milky way. Personal preference, I guess.
