The roots of a fallen tree in the Hocking Hills State Park, in Ohio. The form reminded me of the artwork of H. R. Giger (of "Alien" fame) and converting to black and white therefore seemed appropriate. Nikon D750 with Tamron 24-70.

I really like this and the BnW treatment I think makes it even better. Definitely an under-appreciated (hehe, see what I did there) aspect of plants, but so critical. This gnarled texture is quite good.
