No need to tell that these are Tre Cime Di Lavaredo in Dolomites! This was taken on an amazingly clear sky. Actually, the weather was too good during 3 days for photography, not a single piece of cloud...At least, these were good conditions for milky way shots.
The picture is a blending of two shots taken the same night. The foreground is taken at blue hour to get a bit of soft light on the Tre Cime. Then, I had to wait for almost 3 hours to get the milky way there and the moon to rise. This is when the sky was taken. This was a bit long to wait at the end! There is heavy digital cheating here because there was a significant light pollution on the bottom that I didn't like in the picture. So, I extended the sky to the bottom to make the light pollution disappear...You will never see the milky way this size at this location. In the other hand, only the camera can see so much light pollution, I didn't really noticed it myself :-)
